My journey from Coach to BRAND + WEB DESIGNER
How did I get here?
We all have a story of how we got to where we are in life, and each story is unique. It's funny, you know, when you leave school or college and get your first job, you think you’re set for life. Or at least I did anyway.
But life has a habit of throwing unexpected curveballs. Navigating my many life challenges would take way too long here and only bore you anyway. But take it from me I’ve experienced quite a few, as we all have, I suspect.
That said, I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life who have been there for me, supporting me, giving me a kick in the a**, when I needed it, laughing with me and generally having fun. Here’s to you 🥂.
But let me tell you about some of the journey…
😧 I had a problem!
…I, like you (maybe), was struggling with the restraints of a job I didn’t feel I had enough control over, although I loved the work.
I looked around and decided there was an opening; that was when I took the leap and started my first business many years ago. I later sold it to three colleagues and moved to Finland…
Why? I hear you ask
…to marry my second husband. In Finland, I found myself adrift with little prospect of working in my field of expertise, then physiotherapy.
Now, what am I going to do?
I thought, ooops 😳! Now, what am I going to do? Just imagine the sense of helplessness in a foreign country with two languages, neither of which I had a clue about. Meanwhile, as I was panicking, I attended the Summer University in Helsinki.
Eureka!
I discovered NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and positive psychology; I was 🤯 blown away and fascinated. My curiosity piqued, I became a coach, started my first coaching business there and haven’t looked back since.
We returned to Ireland and…
Since our return to Ireland and starting my second coaching business, I've been Coaching and delivering NLP and Time Line Brief Therapy Training. And built a few websites. What fun I’ve had, yah!
But as you probably know, every now and again, the change bell starts to ring, and there’s no stopping it! You need a change. You want a change. The bell is getting louder and louder. You have to have a change! If you don’t do something different, you feel like you’ll burst. So, I decided to go for it and change direction…a bit.
Multi-passionate
Curiosity is a bit of a problem for me. As my husband says, “Julie, haven’t you learned enough yet?” I like to know stuff!
Over the years, I’ve built websites on nearly all the different platforms. In the beginning, I’ll be honest, I hadn’t a clue 😳.
I’d never heard of Keywords, Hierarchy, SEO, UX, UI, the value of Brand, and so much tech stuff. So, needless to say, the first couple of sites I built weren’t brilliant! But as you know, practice makes perfect.
Since then, I’ve learned an enormous amount - that curiosity problem again 😂 you know.
And now
